Volunteers have always played an important part in National Museums NI. Our museums benefit from the skills, passion and experience that volunteers have to offer.
All of our current roles are advertised here on our website, our dedicated volunteer website, our social media pages and on the Volunteer Now platform Be Collective.

Get Mucky in the Bog at Ulster American Folk Park!

We are working in partnership with The Conservation Volunteers to help save our bog at the Folk Park. We are looking for expressions of interest from local volunteers who can help us remove the invasive species that threaten this very special eco-system. If you are interested in finding out more send us an email.

Family Activity Volunteer, Ulster Folk Museum

The summer is a busy period at the museum and our volunteers are key! As a volunteer you'll get the opportunity to help with the delivery of craft and other activities, setting up and clearing up activities and events, providing a warm welcome to all visitors, controlling the flow of visitors taking part in activity sessions and providing directions and orientation to visitors. It's a great way to experience the museum in a unique way, get to know others, and spend time outdoors reconnecting with our heritage past!

The Green Gym at Cultra, Ulster Folk Museum

The Green Gym at the Ulster Folk Museum is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and help restore our cottage gardens to produce the heritage fruit and vegetables that they would have 100 years ago.

In partnership with The Conservation Volunteers’ we host a “Green Gym” session at the Folk Museum every Friday. Check out our video below to see how the project is transforming our heritage gardens as well as the impact it has on those who volunteer.
