Find out how some of the greatest Irish artists in the Ulster Museum’s fine art collection depicted the landscape in different seasons. We will take a look at a selection of paintings and help guide the class through an examination of how colour, form and line can express different weather conditions and create mood and atmosphere. We also get to know a little bit about the artist’s lives, where they lived and what kinds of scenes they liked to paint. There’s a chance to discuss how we feel when we spend some time looking at the paintings. What is it about them that tells us if it is stormy, sunny or cold, and can we use some of the same methods to make our own weather pictures?
